Molehill Design was established in 2025 and born from a long running collaboration between Stuart Thompson Architect and Molehill Construction. Together, we have built a reputation for creating spaces which are individual, practical and buildable.
Our service goes beyond just how something looks. We value the whole design process. The practical need. The physical build. Form and function. Good design considers all these things. Planning and constructing any building project is a huge challenge and we help guide you through the process, without losing sight of the original objectives and ambitions.
Stuart Thompson
Stuart is a director and co-founder of Molehill Design.
A UK qualified architect since 2017; Stuart worked at Aaron Evans Architects in Bath for 18 years prior to starting his own practice. Stuart is passionate about collaborative design and demystifying the design process from understanding and developing the brief through to delivery of the completed construction. His strengths include good cross-discipline understanding and focused project management.
Outside of work, Stuart can be found dog walking around the hills of Bath or coaching junior Rugby.
Rod Castro
Rod is a Director and Co-Founder of Molehill Design with over 12 years’ experience in high-quality construction and project delivery.
He ensures projects run smoothly, on time, and to the highest standards. Rod is passionate about the craft of building, known for his solutions-focused approach and ability to unite skilled teams to deliver exceptional results. He has a keen eye for detail and a commitment to excellence.
Outside work, Rod enjoys outdoor adventures, spinning, and discovering new flavours through his love of good food.
Alex Mole
Alex is managing director and co-founder of Molehill Design.
As managing director of Molehill Group, Alex has over 20 years of experience in management. With a strong foundation in construction and project management, he has led the company to become a trusted name in the field. Under his and the management team’s leadership, the company has consistently delivered on its promise to exceed client expectations while adhering to the highest safety and quality standards.
Outside of work, Alex is with his family or out playing badminton in various leagues around the South West.
